My Love/Hate Relationship with Snapchat

Lately it seems like everyone’s got a Snapchat now. Friends, family, celebrities, businesses, etc. And I’m not going to lie. It took me a long minute to like it.

Mostly because I didn’t want to deal with yet another social media platform.

But this time it’s different.

The main idea of Snapchat is that you only have a limited amount of time to view something. Either someone sends you something directly and you can see it once or can view people’s Snap Stories which lasts 24 hours. After that it’s gone to never be seen again. (Unless you’re screencapping stuff.)

The Snap Stories feature is my favorite part about it all.

It’s a great way to post directly to friends or fans alike and show a more behind the scenes look into your life. It’s very in the moment and almost in real time.

It feels like this would be the ideal place to share your food porn, your random selfies, your pets, your coffee, etc. since it’s all happening right then and there. Not to mention a great way to stay in touch with someone that may not be able to share the day with you.

I guess that’s why I’ve taken the plunge. Again. I downloaded once it before when Stories wasn’t added in yet and found it a hassle to send individual Snapchats. Not going to lie here. At first I really didn’t like Snapchat for various reasons. I resisted using it. You have to use the camera within the app. So no pre-edited photo's or videos that can be uploaded onto your account. I originally didn't like that as much but now it's much simpler to use. And anything that cuts out extra work is fine with me.

So there, I like it now.

Now it’s a fun way to share your day with others and take a peek into their lives as well. Plus you can do some funny or creative stuff with the features within it. I have seen some serious drawings done on it. Like how the hell did you draw that with your finger good.

You can learn more about how to use Snapchat to market your business via Alex Beadon and her handly little video on it.

I’m excited to be able to share more video as well. I typically don’t do a lot of video on any other platform but my snaps will feature more live shows and outings. I hope you got to see my intense Snap story of my amazing weekend at the Supernatural Convention last weekend.

Be sure to be following to see my Snap Story on what will be an epic night with Snoop Dogg, E-40 and G-Eazy on the 19th!

Did this post help you get a better understanding of this crazy Snapchatty-ness? If so, share! If you’re someone that still doesn’t care for Snapchat then that’s cool too.

You’re just going to miss out on all these live-action shenanigans!!

Cheers to staying in touch,
