Well hello again. I hope you had an amazing winter break (or at least a little bit of time off for the holidays) like I did!
New Year’s was rung in with a bang and now here we are.
I can’t believe it’s a new year already! Where is the time going?!
2014 was definitely a year to remember. I would like to say that it was my best year so far and I have learned and grown so much.
It’s crazy but I’m starting to understand that sometimes there are things that are going on in your life and in the world that aren’t always in your control and it can be a healthy thing to just go with the flow and let life show you the path. Or at least a few options.
You can read all about the first half of the year and the highlights therein via this blog post: Aging Faster Than the Speed of Light.
Here are my top 3 highlights from the second half of the year:
Over the summer I got a chance to drive down to Portland, Oregon with a good friend of mine and hang out for the weekend. It was the first time that year I actually got to go anywhere and just chill out! That was shortly followed by an assisting gig that took me out to Richland, Washington (that’s like the tri cities area, very close to the border of Idaho...which I’d NEVER been to before) and was blown away by how different the terrain was compared to where I am.
THEN I decided to take the plunge and travel alone for the first time ever. I flew to Las Vegas, Nevada (yeah I went to Sin City, by myself...AND I had a blast!) and thoroughly enjoyed myself at the Life is Beautiful Festival. Plus hanging out on the Strip. I closed out the year with a trip down to Cannon Beach, Oregon with my mom and brother for the Christmas holiday.
Overall an amazing experience to go to all these places, take it in, and just have a good time.
Fact: I have a HUGE obsession with music. Current favorite? Hip hop and rap. Recently I’ve been hunting around for new artists to listen to. An amazing way to discover new artists? Pandora is a great place to start. They have a free option and Pandora One which cuts out ads. I’ve been a Pandora One user for awhile now and it’s totally worth it.
I was also someone that was fortunate to snap up an amazing deal from Spotify, to try out a premium account for $1 a month for 3 months. Spotify is THE music program I have been looking for my entire life. No joke. No exaggeration. I actually kind of freaked out. They have almost everything from any established artist and you can swap stuff in and out with the click of a button, not to mention make playlists or use their radio. And okay maybe I am a little late in the game for this stuff. But still. I discovered and loved it. Now I’m a dedicated customer.
Oh and lastly, I’ve been buying stuff on iTunes like crazy. Just cause I can. And Soundcloud is great for stuff that wasn’t majorly released, remixes, mixtapes, and B-sides.
I successfully did a juice cleanse for 3 days. If you know me, you know that that’s just plain unheard of. It was tough. Really tough. But I survived and felt SO much better afterwards. I’ve also been starting to cook recipes out of Kris Carr’s “Crazy Sexy Kitchen” and Chloe Coscarelli’s "Vegan Italian Kitchen". So far all of the recipes have been big hits! The fact that I’m cooking is a shocker for me. Vegetables nonetheless. Even about a year ago I would’ve cringed at the sight of any. Oh and I learned how to make pumpkin pie. I made it as my dish to bring to all the Thanksgiving celebrations I went to. (I made 4 total.)
Cheers to 2014! You were a big year for me. Thanks for all the lessons.
