Recently I had the pleasure of marathon watching Boy Meets World.
And I have to say it was just as amazing as it was while watching as a child. Actually that’s a lie. It was even MORE amazing because this time I fully understand all the jokes (there was a lot of adult humor very subtly tied in) and life lessons.
There were moments where I was brought to tears.
Throughout the series I collected a number of inspiring quotes that really blew me away. All of which were timeless, beautiful and still very applicable today.
Specifically from their lifelong teacher, friend and mentor, Mr. Feeny.
There were a ton of memorable moments throughout the entire series.
Here are just 5 awesome Feeny-isms. (that’s a new word for Feeny wisdom)
1. “If we do not understand history, we are doomed to repeat its mistakes.”
Learn from the past. Learn from your mistakes. Pay attention to what’s going on around you and what others have done. Learn from each other!
2. “You don’t have to be blood to be family.”
Some people are lucky enough to find real, lasting friendships with others. And it’s pretty straight forward, that sometimes you have friends that are just as close to you as your own family. Maybe even closer.
3. “I just wonder if at this stage in my life my risk taking days are over, or perhaps I never appreciated the value of taking a risk. And that’s why I’ve missed the chance at true love.”
Take risks even if you might fail. The experience in itself can be a reward. Put yourself out there. Be vulnerable. The potential rewards are more than worth it.
4. “I believe that when you find love you hold onto it. And cherish it. Because there is nothing finer and may never come again.”
Understand and appreciate how amazing of a gift love is and what it can do to your quality of life. Leverage that to make yourself a better human being that spreads that kind of happiness to others.
5. “Believe in yourselves. Dream. Try. Do good.”
Be confident in yourself. Pursue your dreams and do the best that you can. Have goals, ambition, drive. Help others.
Has anyone else recently found profound wisdom and amazingness from Boy Meets World?
Or maybe from another tv series? Or a book or movie?
Either way it is just so uplifting when you manage to stumble across great words of wisdom or inspiration, especially in places where you least expect it. Like a family sitcom.
