Every single person worldwide can relate to this.
We have all ended up in a place that is less than ideal.
Maybe we got there by accident or it was only supposed to be a part time gig or you were just trying to help someone out.
Then soon months have passed. Then years. Maybe almost a whole lifetime if you’re stubborn enough.
I know it’s happened to me. A couple times. (For the record, this does not include my current situation.)
It’s not necessarily something you notice right away and can be a gradual process. And as we all know, time flies.
I’m still shocked that we’re getting close to the end of the year.
Maybe it really is just the wrong place for you to be but you’re still there.
Well I’m here to let you know that it shows.
I can tell. People can usually tell. We all kind of have a sense that something’s off or not right or tense.
It can really show in your body language. Or your facial expressions. Or the way you handle things around others whether that’s coworkers or customers or friends and family.
So this all sounds like a pretty similar story. Maybe we pick up a part time job somewhere telling ourselves that it’s temporary and then years end up flying by. There could be circumstances that make it really difficult for you to leave a certain situation and I have been there.
And this can apply to almost anything, whether that be: school, work, hobbies, clubs, projects, relationships, etc.
And I feel that it is key to first acknowledge whether or not this is happening to you.
Take some time and think about what’s really important to you. What are your priorities? Do those need some adjustment as well?
Figure out exactly what it is that you WANT.
Oftentimes we’ll notice that we may have known what we wanted deep down inside all along. But we tend to choose to ignore it or pretend like it’s impossible to achieve.
There is no better time than right now to pause and reflect and be brutally honest with yourself.
It’s scary, uncomfortable and it’s not very easy either. But is ultimately very necessary.
If you feel like this is something that has applied to you in the past or applies to you right now then take this exact moment to think about what’s going on in your life and maybe even start to re-prioritize.
It can be scary as hell to switch things up, change your routine or try something new but the rewards will be more than worth it.
